baseline GVL is the Upstate’s premier, indoor temperature-controlled pickleball facility. We offer 16 professional-quality courts, excellent coaching staff and play options that cater to players of all experience levels.

Our mission is to be the Upstate’s home for the pickleball community.

We are dedicated to fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment where players of all ages and skill levels can connect, compete, and thrive. By offering premier facilities, engaging programming and opportunities for skill development, we aim to build a vibrant community centered around camaraderie, health, and the love of the game.

LEADERSHIP AND OPERATIONS

Chandler Benore, General Manager

baseline GVL is the brainchild of Greenville native Chandler Benore. Chandler began her racket sports career in youth tennis, eventually playing Division I collegiate tennis at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA. After returning to Greenville, Chandler worked various client-facing and operational roles at tech startups, and continued her engagement and support of racket sports in the Upstate through youth tennis lessons and coaching. She started her pickleball journey in 2021 and was hooked, quickly competing in mixed doubles tournaments–earning a 5.0 rating–and recently became a certified pickleball coach.

Outside of baseline GVL, Chandler is likely to be found hanging out with her golden retriever Wrigley, thinking about hanging out with her golden retriever Wrigley, or lint-rolling her pants thanks to her golden retriever Wrigley. She’s also known among friends and acquaintances to make the very best stuffed shells in the world.

Alissa Maffett, Director of Operations

Alissa joined baseline GVL to marry her passion for community and fitness with her marketing and operations background. Alissa is an avid yogi and registered 500-hour yoga teacher. She built a 17-year career in marketing and advertising–six of those spent in executive leadership roles–which prepared her well to tackle operations at baseline GVL. Though she’s a newbie to pickleball, Alissa is inspired by the sport’s commonalities with her yoga experience: inclusivity, supportive community and accessibility. Alissa also enjoys running on the Swamp Rabbit Trail, taking advantage of Greenville’s food scene, and live music (especially emo). 

Dave Benore, Founder

Dave is a driven entrepreneur and business owner, committed to building impactful ventures that foster growth and community connection. With a passion for innovation and a  results-oriented mindset, Dave thrives on turning ideas into successful, sustainable businesses.

Danny Joyner, Founder 

Danny is a visionary entrepreneur and dedicated business owner with a passion for creating impactful businesses that drive growth and bring people together. Known for a creative approach and strong leadership, Danny excels at transforming ideas into successful, community-focused ventures.

Greg Shepherd, Founder

Greg was born and raised in the Upstate of South Carolina, is a devoted husband for 30 years and a father to two children. Greg is a dynamic, hands-on business owner and entrepreneur, always looking for new opportunities to innovate and create value. With a passion for problem-solving and a commitment to excellence, Greg focuses on building businesses that not only succeed but also positively impact the community.
